Fall 2010 Fashion Trends – Masculine Meets Feminine
One of the hottest fashion trends for the Fall 2010 season is the combination of masculinity and femininity. This doesn’t literally mean that women should start wearing manly blazers with pinstripe pants, but pieces which add strength and structure will look amazing.
Masculine Mash-Up
There is no question that the hottest fashion designer of 2010 has been Alexander Wang and the inspiration for this trend can be traced directly back to his Autumn ’10 runway show. The Alexander Wang collection consisted of sexy pinstripe suits and elegantly deconstructed ensembles which resulted in chic menswear for women.
Other designers approached this trend in a less literal manner by adding structure to their collections while mixing hard and soft looks. For instance, Ralph Lauren paired a men’s vest with a romantic blouse which had puffed sleeves. Diane von Furstenberg also illustrated this trend by combining a bolero which had been covered in beautiful rosettes with cropped pinstripe pants.

The designers also inserted a sense of masculinity to their clothes with the use of classic tailoring techniques. This approach was seen on the runways of Donna Karan with her innovative boyfriend coats. What exactly is a “boyfriend coat?” Just picture it as a man’s coat which has been styled and shaped to fit a woman’s body.
The masculine-meets-feminine trend became most apparent in the designs for formal wear. Typical evening attire consists of gowns, cocktail dresses, or something of that nature but this year, women’s tuxedos made an impact. These weren’t your typical penguin suits, either. These tuxedos took things to the next level with unique fabrics and embellishments such as the Phillip Lim gold lamé design.

Trench coats will never be lost in the fashion trend this 2011. This coat is perfect for casual and social gatherings. Trench coats have different colors and 2011 will produce coats in pastel colors.
Micro minis will be a great hit, as street style will work best this year. Belts with metal studs and stylish tank tops will work great with micro minis. In addition, boots will be the perfect footwear for micro minis.

China College Fashion Trends 2011
When you step into any one of colleges in China, you can find that there are various dressing styles. As most of the boys in China are not so keen in fashion, it’s hard to tell which style of dressing they are. However, things are different in Chinese girls. Every time you see a Chinese girl, you can easily tell the style of her dressing. Actually, the dressing styles, or we say China fashion trends of college girls can be divided into three categories. I will tell you one by one in the following part.
The most common one is ‘Japanese style’. The major feature of this kind of style is cute or we say ‘kawaii’ in Japanese. If a college girl wears a t-shirt with a big hello kitty on it or a pink backpack just as the primary school kid’s, there is no doubt that she’s following the Japanese style. The popularity of Japanese style is actually following the daily-better relationship between China and Japan. But the political issue is not our key point here. Not only because of the frequent cultural communication between China and Japan, but also because the Japanese culture is basically based on the traditional Chinese culture although we can see many innovative change here, like the miniskirts or sun-tops.

Then next style arises only in this decade along with the popular TV series. Obviously, the trend I mention here is the Korean one. Chinese even coined a local word ‘Hanliu’ for this special fashion trend. We can use a key word to describe the Korean style: the Girl Next Door. How can we define the dressing of a girl lives next door? It always means that it’s comfortable, looking good but not so exaggerated as the Japanese style. Girls may carry the little elegant hand bag with them or wear the hairband with a bow on it. Instead of being sexy, girls in this style seem more accessible to others.
Last but not least, the western style. This trend has the longer history than the two we mentioned above, however, it’s not adopted by the majority of college girls in China. The major reason is that we Chinese girls have different builds from the western people. You can find that college girls who have preference for this style are mostly tall and thin like models. They wear super miniskirts to show their slim figures or huge coats to outstand their arrogance. Actually there is a minor trend that’s not easily discovered by most people, the campus trend. Students in college are no longer required to wear uniforms which makes them cherish the memory of that dressing.. That’s why campus trend appeared. It’s rooted in the western dressing style since they have the most beautiful uniforms for student in high schools.
China College fashion trends is actually the combination of the three kinds of styles from different countries as I mentioned above. Next time if you have time, you could come to China and walking around in the Chinese Colleges, you will find it very different from yours.

Teen Fashion Trends, are They not Useless Lifestyles?
One thing for sure, teens want to dress according to their interests and affiliations. The teens’ wholehearted devotion to follow teen fashion trends are considered by some as mere extravagance. Not all teenagers are that rich enough to spend money on apparels in order to catch up with these trends. But creative teenagers have their own ways of fulfilling their passion, and others know how to sacrifice their allowances in order to buy the clothes and accessories just to be “in”.
